The term “African American” annoys me. Most the people who use that phrase have never been to Africa. You are either African or you are American. Now maybe you have some kind of dual-citizenship and are literally African American. You don’t hear me calling myself Irish American (for the same reasons above). I’m American of Irish decent. You’re American of African decent. Point is that we’re all Americans so stop trying to segregate yourselves or others by adding an extra word in.
